Seeing Double
Norbert Burgmüller: String Quartet No. 4 in a minor, Op. 14
Franz Joseph Haydn: String Quartet in G major, Op 64, no. 4
Boccherini: String Quintet in E flat major, Op. 10, no. 2
Get a double dose of cello in Seeing Double as La Speranza invites Louis-Marie Fardet to the stage again for cellist and Classical-era composer Luigi Boccherini’s sunny String Quintet in E flat major. A dramatic quartet by the German Romantic-era composer Norbert Burgmüller, who was friends with composers Felix Mendelssohn and Robert Schumann, contrasts Boccherini's genteel voice. Also on the program hear a Haydn string quartet written about 10 years after the groundbreaking Op. 20 string quartets burst onto the 18th-century Viennese musical scene.
