Triumphant Tenth
Antonio Rosetti: String Quartet in F major, Op. 6, no 6
Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet no. 10 in E flat major, Op. 74 “Harp”
La Speranza concludes our tenth season of bringing you beauty and hope with music performed on historical instruments in Triumphant Tenth, featuring Beethoven’s singular String Quartet No. 10, “Harp." The quartet gets its nickname not from the instrument being featured but from harp-like pizzicato, or plucking, which in the first movement is passed among all four instruments. A quartet by crowd-pleaser Antonio Rosetti rounds out the program.
